India-based SMEL’s stainless steel output doubles in June

India’s Shyam Metalics and Energy Limited (SMEL) achieved stainless steel production of 7,105 mt in June this year, up 100.69 percent over the corresponding month of the previous year, according to a company statement on Thursday, July 11.

It achieved specialty alloy production of 15,216 mt in the given period, up 6.28 percent, and carbon steel output of 120,803 mt, a rise of 0.9 percent, year on year, the company said in the statement.

SMEL’s iron ore output in June this year was reported at 87,251 mt, up 6.95 percent over the corresponding month of the previous year.
