India's Ministry of Commerce and Industry has announced that it has initiated an antidumping (AD) duty investigation concerning imports of hot rolled (HR) flat products of alloy or non-alloy steel in coils of width up to 2,100 millimeters and thickness up to 25 millimeters and hot rolled flat products of alloy or non-alloy steel not in coils (commonly known as sheets and plates) of width up to 4,950 millimeters and thickness up to 150 millimeters originating in or exported from China, Japan, Russia, South Korea, Brazil and Indonesia.
The investigation launched upon a complaint received from Indian producers Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), JSW Steel Limited and Essar Steel India Limited covers the period between July 2015 and December 2015.
According to the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, the products under consideration are used in many applications and sectors such as automotive, oil and gas line pipes/exploration, cold rolling, pipe and tube manufacturing, infrastructure and construction, general engineering and fabrication, earth-moving and mining equipment, storage tanks, low pressure heaters, capital goods including plant and process equipment for cement, fertilizer, refineries, etc.
The products in question currently fall under Customs Tariff Statistics Position Numbers 7208, 7211, 7225 and 7226.
