NMDC Steel Limited, an arm of Indian government run miner, NMDC Limited, produced its first final product- hot rolled coil (HRC) within just nine days of starting its blast furnace, a company statement said on Friday, August 25.

The company said that the blast furnace was ‘fired up’ just nine days ago and production of finished steel- HRC within nine days was ‘unprecedented’.

According to the statement, all three critical units of the 3 million mt per year steel mill- blast furnace, steel melting shop (SMS) and mills (thin slab caster and hot strip mill) are now operational.

The steel mill will commence production of special steel for manufacture of generators, motors, transformers, and automobile, at a later stage, the company said.
