The Ukrainian pipe producer Interpipe has announced the commissioning of the new coating line with an annual capacity of 250,000 mt at its subsidiary Interpipe NTRP, Dnepropetrovsk, Ukraine.

The main equipment for the line was supplied by German manufacturer of spray coating lines and handling technology Venjakob, which also carried out a successful guarantee test for the line at the end of March this year.

The new line will allow Interpipe NTRP to apply coatings to different types of pipes with diameters ranging from 73 mm to 178 mm. The protective ultra-violet coating placed on the pipes has a quick drying capability of 0.5-2 seconds. The paint setting also has an air purification system that keeps the workshop atmosphere unpolluted, does not contain varnish, and is entirely safe for workers.

Commenting on the commissioning of the line, Interpipe commercial director Duncan Pell stated, "The new protective coating will help to preserve the quality of pipes during both their long-term storage and transportation. This protection during transportation is particularly crucial for the supply of goods to long-distance markets such NAFTA and the Middle East."

Interpipe NTRP produces seamless pipes for the oil, gas and power industries, pipes for machinery as well as pipes for industrial application, in compliance with API 5CT, API 5L, EN (DIN), ASTM, GOST and customer specifications. In addition, the plant also manufactures railway wheels and tyres.
