Iran inaugurates country’s largest private sector mini-mill

Vian Melting and Casting Company (VISCO), a mini-mill with an annual capacity of 550,000 mt of billets located near the western Iranian city of Hamadan, was formally inaugurated on Sunday, May 3, by Iranian vice president Parviz Davodi and minister of industry and mines Ali-Akbar Mehrabian.

The largest privately-owned mini-mill in Iran, VISCO is capable of producing 100 x 100 mm to 160 x 160 mm billets in lengths of 12 m. VISCO has a 70-mt electric arc furnace, a 70-mt ladle furnace and a four-strand continuous casting machine supplied by Siemens VAI.
