Iran to raise steel import duties

According to Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO), Iran's deputy minister for industry, mine and trade Mehdi Karbasian has explained the performed actions related to rising tariffs on steel import and said that last week the final session of determination of the import tariffs for the next Iranian year (March 20, 2016 to March 20, 2017) was held. In the meeting the last draft of the import tariffs was finalized and the mentioned import tariffs will be discussed in the government’s next session and will be ratified after government’s verification.

SteelOrbis understands that the steel import tariffs will increase by 15 percentage points. The current tariffs on steel imports range from 10 to 20 percent.
