Iron ore shipments on the Great Lakes up 4.5 percent in November

Shipments of iron ore on the Great Lakes totaled 4.4 million tons in November, an increase of 4.5 percent from 2021, according to a report today from the Lake Carriers’ Association (LCA). Shipments were below the month’s five-year average by 6.4 percent.

Year-to-date the iron ore trade stands at 38.3 million tons, a decrease of 18.6 percent compared to the same point in 2021.

Through November, iron ore loadings are 17.7 percent below their five-year average for that timeframe, LCA said.
