Dneprovsky Iron and Steel Works named after F. Dzerzhinsky (DMKD), a subsidiary of the Ukrainian steelmaker Industrial Union of Donbass (ISD), has announced that it is continuing the reconstruction and technical reequipment of its production facilities.

Accordingly, DMKD has already completed overhaul work at its converters NN1-2, at a cost of UAH 33.5 million (approx. $4.4 million), and is currently carrying out the reconstruction of its continuous billet caster N3 and of its two ladle furnaces. In addition, DMKD plans an investment of UAH 35 million (approx. $4.6 million) for the construction of new aspiration systems, and also intends to invest UAH 7 million (approx. $918,040) in the modernization of gas-purifying equipment at its converter N1.

Within the framework of its reconstruction program, DMKD has decommissioned and disassembled its outdated blast furnace (BF) N11, and started the construction of a new BF N4, at the same time continuing the reconstruction of its BF N12.

As regards the future, DMKD intends to construct a new sinter plant, including two up-to-date sintering machines and aspiration systems, which will comply with the requirements of European standards. The investments in the projects in question will amount to UAH 228.8 million (approx. $30 millon).
