In June, Italian crude steel production amounted to 1.852 million mt, marking a decrease of 3.0 percent compared to June 2023, according to Federacciai, the Italian federation of steel companies. In the first six months of the current year, Italian crude steel production totaled 10.844 million mt, showed a decline of 5.2 percent year on year.

In June, different dynamics were seen in production in the long and flat product segments in Italy. Long product output grew by 5.6 percent year on year to 1.1 million mt, while flat product output totaled 769,000 mt, continuing its decline, with a decrease of 11.2 percent year on year.
In the first six months of the year, longs production amounted to 6.4 million mt, recording an increase of 0.2 percent year on year, while flats production totaled 4.5 million mt, experiencing a contraction of 9.5 percent year on year.
