Germany-based plantmaker SMS Group has announced that Italian steelmakers Arlenico SpA and Feralpi Siderurgica SpA have each ordered a four-stand MEERdrive®PLUS finishing line.

One of the new lines will be installed at the existing wire rod line at Caleotto plant of Arlenico, owned 50 percent each by Italy-based Duferco Italia Holding and Feralpi Siderurgica SpA, and will allow the company to serve the market with products of the tightest tolerances ever produced.

Meanwhile, the other new finishing line will enable Feralpi to increase production and rolling speed and to extend the size range produced and achieve enhanced final mechanical properties.
