Italian group Danieli, which operates in the plant-making field and also in special steel production through its subsidiary Acciaierie Bertoli Safau (ABS), has issued its financial results for the first quarter ended September 30 of the fiscal year 2015-16.
Accordingly, in the given quarter Danieli’s sales revenues fell 15 percent to €556 million, while its net profit decreased by 58 percent to €22.5 million, both year on year. EBITDA decreased by 22 percent year on year to €28.1 million.
Danieli specified that the decrease in sales revenues in the plant-making division is only temporary, considering the building programs which have been agreed by contract with customers. The group also pointed out that the sales volumes of ABS have remained stable. Furthermore, Danieli stated that its consolidated profit was in line with forecasts earlier this year, albeit lower compared to the same period of last year, which had been positively influenced by exchange rates. The net financial position of the group remains solid. Concerning the steelmaking division, a new rolling mill called "Rotoforgia" began operation at Buttrio, Udine, in October this year. It allows the company to diversify production, efficiently using all the liquid steel it produces.
Finally, the group expects a general improvement in its results in the second half of 2016 and then in 2017, "thanks to numerous projects for private investments and public infrastructures, especially in countries with emerging economies."
