Japanese crude steel output up 2.7 percent in January

In January this year, Japanese crude steel production was up 3.3 percent compared to the previous month and up 2.7 percent compared to January last year, totaling 9.0 million mt, according to the data released by the Japan Iron and Steel Federation (JISF). 
 
Meanwhile, in January of the current year Japan's pig iron production totaled 6.92 million metric tons, rising by 5.5 percent compared to the previous month and up by 0.5 percent year on year.
