According to the data released by the Republic of Kazakhstan's Agency of Statistics, in the first four months of 2009 the country registered an 21 percent decrease in its crude steel production, a 8.6 percent decrease in its production of flat rolled steel (including a 17.9 percent decline in tinplate), and a 34.4 percent decrease in its ferroalloys production, all compared to the data for January-April 2008.
The respective figures in metric tons were 1.218 million, 976,452 (including 56,730 for tinplate), and 380,216.
