The Ukrainian iron ore and steel producer Metinvest Holding (Metinvest) has announced that in April 2009 its subsidiary Khartsyzsk Pipe Works (KhPW) delivered a total of 53,790 mt of 1,067 х 15.9 mm and 1,067 х 19.1 mm Х70 pipes with internal and external anticorrosive coatings for the Central Asia-China gas pipeline project.
KhPW's total output of large diameter pipes during the fourth month of 2009 amounted to 52,818 mt - down 10.6 percent month on month, with its output of large diameter pipes with anticorrosive coating for the same month reaching 58, 584 mt - down 8.1 percent compared to March 2009.
The month-on-month decrease of the company's April output volume in metric tons was due to the decrease of the average weight of the produced pipes, most of which had a smaller wall thickness of 15.9 mm, as opposed to the pipes of 19.1 mm wall thickness which were earlier produced in large volumes.
During the first four months of 2009, KhPW produced 202,627 mt of large diameter pipes, with output of pipes with anticorrosive coating totaling 204,032 mt.
