Khouzestan Steel’s semis output rises 27 percent in last Iranian month

Iranian state-owned steelmaker Khouzestan Steel produced about 189,114 mt of semi-finished steel (including billet, bloom and slab) in the last Iranian month, up 27 percent compared to the corresponding month of last  year, according to the company's managing director Abdolmajid Sharifi.

Mr. Sharifi added that Khouzestan Steel produced 1.055 million mt of semis in the first five months of the current Iranian year (started March 21), which is about 16 percent higher than during the corresponding period of the last Iranian year.

Khouzestan Steel, which is based in the southeastern Iranian city of Ahwaz close to the Persian Gulf, recently raised its nominal semi-finished steel capacity to 3.2 million mt per year and plans to produce 2.8 million mt of semis in the current Iranian year.
