Australia-based iron ore company Magnum Mining & Exploration (Magnum) has announced that it has completed metallurgical test work on a bulk magnetite sample from its Buena Vista Iron Project in the US. The results show that the project can produce high-grade concentrate.

According to the results, 68.3 percent Fe grade magnetite concentrate is achievable through simple grinding. The company stated that the grinding has achieved low silica and aluminum levels below three percent, which is needed to meet direct reduction iron grade requirements.

Magnum noted that flotation test work is underway to pursue higher iron grades.
