Malaysia's Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) has announced its preliminary decision regarding the antidumping (AD) duty investigation on steel wire rod imports from Taiwan, China, Indonesia, South Korea and Turkey.
The ministry found that the abovementioned countries sold dumped goods to Malaysia and caused material injury for the domestic market. However, the ministry concluded that certain companies, namely P.T. Ispat Indo (Indonesia), Jiangsu Shagang Group Co. Ltd. and Jiangsu Yonggang Group Co. Ltd. (China) and Diler Dis Ticaret A.S. (Turkey), have not caused material injury to the Malaysian market through export prices.
The provisional dumping duty ranging from 5.56 percent to 33.62 percent will be effective until the final determination by the ministry which is expected to be announced not later than 120 days following the publication of the preliminary notice in the federal gazette.
As SteelOrbis previously reported, the investigation was launched in June, following a petition lodged by domestic wire rod producer Amsteel Mills Sdn. Bhd.
The goods subject to investigation are currently classified under Harmonized System Code Numbers 7213.10.000, 7213.20.000,7213.91.000 and 7213.99.000.
