Malaysia’s iron and steel sales value up 8.8 percent in January

Malaysian manufacturing output in January this year rose 1.2 percent compared to January 2011, following a revised year-on-year increase of 4.4 percent recorded in December, according to Malaysia's Department of Statistics.
 
In January, Malaysian basic metal and fabricated metal products output rose by 5.9 percent compared to the same month of the previous year. Meanwhile, in January this year, the sales value of basic iron and steel product manufacture totaled RM 1.9 billion ($621.6 million), increasing by 8.8 percent year on year.
