In May this year, manganese ore shipments from Australia’s Port Hedland amounted to 122,908 metric tons, up 63.9 percent month on month, according to the monthly data released by the Port Hedland Port Authority. No manganese ore shipments were made in May 2023.
Meanwhile, in the given month China was the biggest destination making up 43.6 percent of total shipments with 53.600 mt. China was followed by Malaysia with 40.1 percent and by Vietnam with 16.3 percent.
Port Hedland handles production from mines owned by BHP Billiton, Fortescue Metals Group and Atlas Manganese in the manganese ore-rich Pilbara region of Western Australia.
