Mechel, one of the leading Russian mining and steel groups, has said that in the first nine months of the current year it managed to maintain rapid production growth from the beginning of the year, with its coking coal concentrate production increasing by 66 percent year on year and its output of coal for steel production rising by 262 percent year on year. Mechel's coal production has steadily exceeded pre-crisis levels beginning from Q2 2010.
Meanwhile, in January-September, Mechel's crude steel production rose by 13 percent, its rolled steel production increased by 18 percent and its hardware output went up by more than one third, all compared to the same period last year.
