Russia-based leading global iron ore and hot briquetted iron (HBI) producer Metalloinvest has announced that its subsidiary Oskol Metallurgical Plant (OEMK) has successfully completed major repair works at its direct reduced iron (DRI) plant No. 2.
As part of the major repair works at DRI plant No. 2, modern equipment has been installed, including the total replacement of the reformer tubes and the catalyser, which has enabled the plant to boost its productivity.
Meanwhile, in order to ensure the supply of additional raw materials to the plant, the company also constructed an intake facility for iron ore pellets from Lebedinsky GOK and Mikhailovsky GOK, both part of Metalloinvest.
Total investment in the major repair works at DRI plant No. 2 and the construction of the intake facility for pellets will amount to approximately RUB 3 billion ($51.43 million). The entire complex, comprising both facilities, is planned to be launched in October this year.
