Metalloinvest’s Q2 iron ore output up 2.6% from Q1 levels

Metalloinvest, a leading global iron ore and hot briquetted iron (HBI) producer based in Russia, has announced its operational results for the second quarter of the current year.

Accordingly, in the given period Metalloinvest's iron ore production increased by 2.6 percent quarter on quarter to 9.790 million mt. Iron ore shipments rose by 15.1 percent quarter on quarter in the same period to 2.803 million mt.

Metalloinvest's pellet production and shipment volumes in the second quarter amounted to 5.732 million mt and 3.395 million mt, down 0.4 percent and 4.6 percent respectively, both quarter on quarter.

Metalloinvest saw a two percent quarter-on-quarter decrease in HBI/direct reduced iron (DRI) production in the second quarter of the current year to 1.375 million mt and a 0.2 percent decrease in shipment volumes to 648,000 mt compared to the previous quarter.

Crude steel production in the second quarter was down by 8.7 percent to 1.092 million mt , while pig iron output rose by five percent to 550,000 mt, both quarter on quarter.
