Ukraine-based vertically-integrated mining and steel group Metinvest has announced that it has continued to invest in new mining machinery for its Mining Division.

Accordingly, Metinvest acquired a new BelAZ dump truck for the Annovsky open pit of Severniy GOK.  The cost of the investment was over UAH 10 million ($1.2 million). The dump truck is equipped with an in-cab climate control system, a video-monitoring system, and a high voltage power line proximity alarm, which is in line with best international practices to ensure the safe movement of open pit vehicles.

The purchase was made as part of the company's long-term investment program. In 2012,Metinvest has acquired seven dump trucks for SevGOK for a total amount of more than UAH 74 million ($9 million).  Currently, 20 130-ton BelAZ vehicles operate at the Annovsky open pit to remove rock masses.

This year, Metinvest acquired 17 BelAZ vehicles for more than UAH 181 million ($22.1 million) for its mining assets in Kryvyi Rih.
