Tetyana Skrypka, head of the construction sector project office at Metinvest-SMC, sales company of Ukrainian mining and steel producing group Metinvest, has stated that it estimates that around 3.5 million mt of steel will be needed for the restoration of housing and social infrastructure in Ukraine after the war ends.
The company forecasts that the restoration will require between five to ten years.
In addition, in May this year Metinvest-SMC launched a project called “Steel Dream”, which includes more than 200 prefabricated buildings, for the country's housing recovery.
Meanwhile, UK-based plantmaker Primetals Technologies will contribute to a feasibility study that is planned to be completed next year to help Ukraine rebuild its steel industry, as SteelOrbis previously reported.
