Ukrainian mining and steel producing group Metinvest has announced that in the third quarter of the current year its crude steel production decreased by eight percent quarter on quarter to 1.80 million mt, mainly due to Azovstal reducing output by 171,000 mt in the given quarter. In addition, in the third quarter Metinvest also produced 6.55 million mt of iron ore concentrate, down seven percent compared to the previous quarter. In the same quarter, the coal concentrate production of Metinvest decreased by 10 percent quarter on quarter to 634,000 mt.
In the January-September period, Metinvest's crude steel output amounted to 5.6 million mt, up three percent, while iron ore concentrate output remained stable at 20.54 million mt, both year on year. In the given period, Metinvest’s coal concentrate production increased by four percent to 1.97 million mt compared to the corresponding period of the previous year.
In the third quarter, the group's output of finished products decreased by one percent to 1.45 million mt compared to the second quarter of the current year, while in the first nine months the finished steel output volume increased by six percent year on year to 4.4 million mt.
