Metinvest’s SevGOK ups capacity of ore-dressing plant No. 1

Severniy GOK (SevGOK), an iron ore producing subsidiary of the Ukrainian mining and metals business group Metinvest, has completed an overhaul at the technological sections No. 1 and No. 2 of its ore-dressing plant No. 1.

The overhaul, the investment for which amounted to UAH 11.5 million (approx. $1.51 million), included the replacement of some equipment and the installation of new separators produced by Ukrainian company Konstar and of new pumps produced by Swedish company Metso Minerals.

The upgraded sections No.1 and No.2 will allow SevGok to increase the annual production capacity at its ore-dressing plant No. 1 by 70,000 mt to 1.25 million mt of concentrate.

According to the preliminary data, during the first half of 2009 SevGOK produced 6.256 million mt of concentrate - down 13.4 percent year on year, and 3.754 million mt of pellets - down 34.9 percent.

In 2008, SevGOK produced 12.602 million mt of concentrate - down 5.9 percent year on year.
