Mexico’s auto production, domestic sales and exports rose in August, all on a year-on-year basis, according to figures released this week by the country’s automotive industry association, AMIA.
According to AMIA, auto production in August increased 13.9 percent, year-on-year, to 332,769 units, while exports and domestic sales in the same period rose 11.9 percent and 19.6 percent, year-on-year, to 262,673 units and 134,043 units, respectively.
As for the accumulative period of January to August, Mexican car output totaled 2.29 million units, 0.7 percent up, year-on-year. On the other hand, auto exports in the same period declined 2.7 percent, year-on-year, to 1.81 million units.
AMIA said domestic sales of cars in the January-August period rose 18.5 percent, year-on-year, to 987,663 units.
