Mexico’s economy secretariat, SE, opened for public consultation two norms for carbon steel wires and rebar, according to two separate filings published on Monday at the nation’s official gazette, Diario Oficial.
According to SE, both norms will be opened for consultation and comments within 60 days from SE’s notification on October 17, 2016.
The PROY-NMX-B-072-CANACERO-2016 norm will replace the NMX-B-365-CANACERO-2008 norm. The PROY-NMX-B-072-CANACERO-2016 establishes the specifications and probe methods for rebar, smooth or corrugated, cold rolled at grade 60.
Additionally, PROY-NMX-B-072-CANACERO-2016 will cancel NMX-B-072-CANACERO-2013. It establishes the requisites for carbon steel wires that are destined to the manufacturing of wires through the drawing or cold rolled processes.
Both steel norms are ruled by Mexico’s 51-A federal law and are overseen by the country’s National Chamber of the Iron and Steel Industry (CANACERO).
