Mexican steelmaker Altos Hornos de Mexico (AHMSA) announced that it has completed its Peso 151 million (US$11.4 million) maintenance program on schedule.

The maintenance program created 2,000 temporary jobs and took two weeks to complete. The program rehabilitated furnace 5, which has the capacity to produce 5,500 mt of pig iron on a daily basis.

The company says that as of Saturday, it has resumed normal operations as planned, and it will therefore be able to fulfill all of its orders booked for the second half of 2009.
