Mill Steel appoints first female president of similar-sized service centers

Tuesday, 12 April 2016 22:12:07 (GMT+3)   |   San Diego

Grand Rapids, Michigan-based flat steel distributor Mill Steel Co. today announced the appointment of Pam Heglund to President. This advancement makes Heglund the first female president of a steel service center this size. Heglund’s 15-year industry tenure includes five years as a partner and Mill Steel’s vice president of sales.

This appointment keeps pace with the company's growth and strategic development under the leadership and direction of David Samrick, CEO and Chairman. In April of 2014, Mill Steel opened its largest facility to-date in Jeffersonville, Indiana. The company has experienced consistent double-digit growth throughout the last decade. In January 2016, Mill Steel continued their expansion with yet another acquisition in Anderson, Indiana, adding to their geographical footprint and increasing service capabilities.

"This type of growth was anticipated with our aggressive sales strategy. Pam played an integral part in positioning Mill Steel as an industry leader and building the robust book of business we have today. I have no doubt her expert leadership will remain constant in the new position, and this progressive transition will be seamless," said Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer, Eric Lambert.
