Minera Autlán reports sales decline of 10 percent in Q3

Mexican manganese and ferro-alloy producer Minera Autlán's net sales fell by 10 percent year-on-year in the third quarter of 2013 due to lower ferro-alloy prices and reduced sales volumes. Net sales totaled 967.4 million Mexican pesos (US$75 million), down from 1.07 billion Mexican pesos (US$83 million) in the corresponding period of 2012, the company said in a filing with Mexico's stock exchange (BMV).

Its sales revenues were down due to a combination of factors, including an 11 percent fall in ferro-alloy prices, a 2 percent currency appreciation and a decline in sales volumes, which were affected by heavy rain in September, the company said.  Shipments of ferro-alloys fell 7.7 percent in the third quarter compared the corresponding period last year.
