The Russian steel producer Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works (MMK) has announced progress on the construction of its new polymer coating line No. 2, comprising hot and cold laminators and an option for an embossing roll and a tension leveler.
Almost all the technical equipment of MMK's new polymer coating line No. 2, i.e. about 1,450 mt, has been installed. The construction works, the installment of the electrical equipment, as well as start-up and adjustment works are being carried out at the same time.
The commissioning of MMK' second polymer coating line, with a 200,000 mt annual capacity, is scheduled for July 19 next, which is Metallurgists' Day in Russia.
As SteelOrbis previously reported, the installation of MMK's coating line No. 2 was originally planned to begin in the autumn of 2008, but was delayed due to the worsening of the global and national economy, and due to the decrease of the company's output. Construction was restarted in the end of February 2009.
The equipment for MMK's new polymer coating line No. 2 is supplied by Italian engineering and equipment manufacturing company FATA Hunter.
