MOIL Limited (formerly Manganese Ore India Limited) will double its manganese production to 2 million mt per year within the next four years, a company official said on Wednesday, June 29.

The official said that the doubling of capacity will be possible after the company receives all mandatory clearance from the government to implement a $117 million expansion of its existing mines at Balaghat in the central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh.

He said that MOIL have also secured a mining lease across 800 hectares in Maharashtra state and investments will be finalized upon completion of exploratory work over the next year.

The company is also seeking opportunities for production of value-added manganese such as ferromanganese and electrolytic manganese dioxide through its existing joint venture with Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) and Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL) for production of alloys, he added.
