Morocco's Ministry of Industry, Trade and New Technologies has announced that it examined the request by the domestic steel industry for the exemption of certain steel grades from the antidumping (AD) duty on the hot rolled (HR) flat steel imports from Turkey and the EU. The ministry said that it will accept applications from the importers who would like to benefit from the duty exemption.
Morocco imposed an antidumping duty ranging between 11 percent and 22.11 percent for hot rolled flat steel imports from Turkey and the EU for five years in September 2014, however the ministry started to receive requests for the exemption of certain types of hot rolled flat steel products since the domestic steel producer Maghreb Steel was having difficulties in supplying the market's needs.
