NMDC’s iron ore output up 11 percent in April-August

India's state-owned miner National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC) has announced that in the first five months of the financial year 2016-17 (started April 1) it produced 11.69 million mt of iron ore, registering an increase of 11 percent year on year. The company's iron ore sales in the given period amounted to 12.93 million mt, rising by 14.7 percent year on year.
 
During the first five months, NMDC's iron ore output from its Karnataka mines amounted to 4.71 million mt, down 20.3 percent, while the iron ore output from its Chhattisgarh mines increased by 51.4 percent to 6.98 million mt, both year on year.
