Turkish pipemaker Noksel Steel Pipe Company has announced that it has completed the construction phase of a new spiral welded pipe production and coating mill investment at Saprelorca organized industrial zone in Lorca, Murcia, Spain, stating that the plant equipment installation process, the final stage of the project, is rapidly on track.
According to a company statement, Murcia's Industry Minister Salvador Marin and Lorca Mayor Fransisco Jodar have visited the project site with their delegations and have been informed about the construction activities and investment schedule by Salim Erol Akkoyunlu, the chairman of Noksel España SA, Spanish subsidiary of Noksel.
During the visit, Mr. Marin said, "Noksel's valuable investment in Lorca is an important example for the Murcia region that will create new business opportunities and contribute substantially to the total production volume of the region. Especially, we would like to express our thanks to the investors for the persistence of operations during the period of economic crisis."
Speaking to SteelOrbis, the company officials said that the facilities, which will be operated under the name of Noksel España SA, have been built on an area of 100,000 square meters and are planned to be commissioned in March 2011. The project, which started in 2009, will have 150,000 mt of annual production capacity.
The plant will manufacture spirally welded pipes between 40.64 cm to 254 cm diameter with wall thickness up to 26 mm for all kinds of water, oil and gas transmission projects as well as for pipe piling applications. In addition, the plant is designed to meet coating and lining applications like polypropylene, polyethylene, polyurethane, epoxy and alike, in accordance with the particular specifications. Noksel España will also meet the necessary API, EN/ISO, OHSAS and other similar certification standards.
