Nucor to invest $4.4 million expansion of Tennessee pickling line

Nucor announced Tuesday plans for a capital investment of $4.4 million at its Decatur, Tennessee plant, which will cover costs of new equipment for the company’s pickling line. According to the company, this will allow for a broader range of products to reach additional markets.

Work on expanding the site to accommodate the equipment will begin this week and complete in December. The site employs more than 730 workers, where work is set to begin Friday.

“This is a relatively small investment for us, but an important one,” Chad Potter, division controller for Nucor Steel Decatur, told local media.

The Decatur Industrial Development Board approved more than $117,000 in tax abatements for Nucor relating to the expansion.
