The employment rate of the 34 Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) member countries was up 0.1 percentage point quarter on quarter to 66.9 percent in the second quarter of this year.
In the second quarter this year, employment rose by 0.2 percentage points in the euro area to 65.3 percent compared to the previous quarter. On quarter-on-quarter basis, the employment rate increased in the United Kingdom by 0.3 percentage points to 73.6 percent, in Japan by 0.1 percentage point to 74.2 percent and in Canada by a 0.1 percentage point to 72.6 percent, while it decreased in the United States by 0.1 percentage point to 69.2 percent and in Turkey by 0.2 percentage points to 50.8 percent.
In the given quarter, the highest quarter-on-quarter gains in employment rates were observed in Estonia, up 1.8 percentage points to 73 percent, in Hungary, rising by 0.8 percentage points to 66.4 percent, in New Zealand, with an increase of 0.8 percentage points to 75.4 percent, and in Slovenia, with a rise of 0.8 percentage points to 66 percent.
