The employment rate of the 34 Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) member countries was up 0.2 percentage points quarter on quarter to 67.2 percent in the last quarter of 2016.
In the fourth quarter of last year, employment rose by 0.5 percentage points in Canada to 72.9 percent compared to the previous quarter. On quarter-on-quarter basis, the employment rate increased by 0.2 percentage points in the euro area to 65.7 percent, rose in the United Kingdom to 73.7 percent and in the US to 69.5 percent, while it increased by 0.1 percentage point in Japan to 74.7 percent, rising in South Korea to 66.3 percent and in Turkey to 50.5 percent. Compared to the previous quarter employment in Mexico fell by 0.4 percentage points to 61 percent.
