Composite leading indicators (CLIs) continue to point to an easing of economic activity in most major OECD economies and slowdowns in most major non-OECD economies, the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) has stated. The CLI for the OECD area fell 0.05 points from 100.4 in May to 100.3 in June, recording a 0.3 percent year-on-year decrease. Looking at the five months up to June, the OECD CLI was up in February and March, stable in April, but recorded a downtrend in May and June.
The CLIs for Japan and the United States show signs of a fading growth momentum. For the euro area, the CLIs of France and Germany continue to point to weak growth, while in Italy the CLI points more strongly to a slowdown. The CLI for the United Kingdom shows tentative signs of a pick-up in economic activity.
