Vyksa Steel Works (Vyksa), a subsidiary of the Russian pipe producer United Metallurgical Company (OMK), has announced that it has mastered the production of 30 x 20 mm profile pipes at its electric pipe-welding shop No. 2. In addition, in May-June 2009 Vyksa plans to develop the production of 100 x 60 mm profile pipes.

Vyksa commenced its production of profile pipes in 2004 and to date has developed a total of 14 sizes of this product. In 2008, Vyksa's electric pipe-welding shop No. 2 produced 29,500 mt of profiles pipes, i.e. 20 percent of the shop's total output.

"The further extension of our range of profile pipes is in line with the company's plans to increase its presence in this promising and rapidly-growing segment of the tube market," Vyksa's executive director Vladimir Kochetkov stated.

Vyksa's electric pipe-welding shop No. 2 manufactures water and gas pipes and pipes for general purposes of 15 mm to 108 mm diameter and of 1 mm to 2 mm wall thickness, and also square and rectangular profile pipes of 20 x 20 mm to 80 x 80 mm sizes and of up to 2 mm wall thickness.
