Pakistan's scrap imports up 16.6 percent in May from April

Pakistan's scrap imports amounted to 313,725 mt in May this year, increasing by 16.64 percent compared to April and by 0.65 percent year on year, according to the data released by the Pakistan Federal Bureau of Statistics (PFBS). The value of these imports in May was $121.41 million, rising by 15.4 percent month on month and up by 1.14 year on year.

Meanwhile, Pakistan's iron and steel imports in May amounted to 245,166 mt, falling by 19.4 percent on year-on-year basis and increasing by 61.79 percent compared to the previous month. In May this year, the value of Pakistan's iron and steel imports was $144.96 million, decreasing by 26.71 percent year on year and up 49.58 percent month on month.
