Pakistan’s scrap imports amounted to 250,734 mt in May this year, rose by 36.1 percent compared to April and by 50.1 percent year on year, according to the data released by the Pakistan Federal Bureau of Statistics (PFBS). The value of these imports in the given month was $113.34 million, up by 36.5 percent month on month and by 66.1 percent year on year.
Meanwhile, Pakistan’s iron and steel imports in May amounted to 302,412 mt, increasing by 67.6 percent year on year and by 28.5 percent compared to the previous month. In the given month, the value of Pakistan’s iron and steel imports was $207.10 million, moving up by 46.7 percent year on year and by 8.3 percent month on month.
