Peruvian iron ore export prices improved 3.6 percent in August, year-on-year, according to data released on Friday by the nation’s central bank, BCRP.
According to BCRP, prices for the Peruvian commodity rose 19.1 percent, month-on-month, from $26.7/mt in July to $31.8/mt in August.
Peruvian iron ore export prices are on an uptrend since June this year, when prices for the commodity reached $22.7/mt, then rising to $26.7/mt in July and now to $31.8/mt in August.
Peruvian iron ore export prices also were on an increasing trend from January to April this year, rising month after month to reach the year’s peak in April at $34.6/mt. In May, the commodity’s export price fell to $30.2/mt.
BCRP said Peruvian iron ore exports volumes totaled 900,000 mt in August, down from 1.3 million mt in July.
