Despite sharing the same border and being considered key export partners for each other, Brazil and Argentina showed diverging figures for the performance of their respective automotive industries, whose industry represent in both cases an important demanding sector for the two local steel industries.
Production and exports of motor vehicles in Argentina declined 25.6 and 48.7 percent, year-on-year, to 45,240 and 18,834 units, respectively, while domestic sales rose 9.6 percent in the same period to 52,209 units, according to data from the local automotive industry association, Adefa.
In Brazil, motor vehicle output rose 17.4 percent in October, year-on-year, to 205,020 units. Exports in the same period increased 69.2 percent to 39,772 units, the nation’s automotive industry association, Anfavea, said. According to Anfavea, domestic sales declined 37.4 percent in October, year-on-year, to 192,146 units.
