In the first half of the current year, total real estate investments in China amounted to RMB 4.6631 trillion ($0.70 trillion), up 6.1 percent year on year, with this growth rate 0.9 percentage points lower than that recorded in the January-May period this year, as announced by China's National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).
Investments in residential dwellings in China in the first half this year amounted to RMB 3.1149 trillion ($0.47 trillion), up 5.6 percent year on year, accounting for 66.8 percent of total real estate investments in the country during the given period.
In the period in question, new commercial real estate sold in China covered a total area of 643.02 million m2, up 27.9 percent on year-on-year basis. The total area covered by new residential buildings sold in China in the given period increased by 28.6 percent, the total area covered by new office buildings sold rose by 40.5 percent, while the total area of new commercial business space sold during the given period was up 13.4 percent, all year on year.
