Russia issues decreased output results for Jan-May

According to the data released by the Russian Federation's Federal State Statistics Service, in the first five months of 2009 the country registered a 16 percent decrease in coal mining output and a 22.8 percent reduction in iron ore mining output year on year. The respective figures in metric tons were 114 million and 34.3 million.
 
In addition, during the same period Russia produced 9.9 million metric tons of coke - down 32.7 percent, 19 million metric tons of finished steel products - down 28.7 percent, and 2.4 million metric tons of steel pipes - down 30.9 percent, all compared to January-May 2008.
