Russia issues Jan-Sept output results

According to the data released by the Russian Federation's Federal State Statistics Service, in the first nine months of 2009 Russia produced 42.8 million metric tons of crude steel - down 24.8 percent, 37.1 million metric tons of finished steel products - down 20.8 percent, 4.7 million metric tons of steel pipes - down 25.7 percent, and 19.8 million metric tons of coke - down 24.7 percent, all compared to January-September 2008.

In addition, during the same period the country registered a 12.6 percent decrease in coal mining output and a 17 percent reduction in iron ore mining output year on year. The respective figures in metric tons were 212 million and 67.2 million.
