According to the State Statistics Committee of Russia (Russtat), in the first half of the current year Russia registered a 6.3 percent rise in its rolled steel product output to 31.3 million mt, a 4.7 percent increase in its crude steel output to 35.7 million mt and a 7.7 percent rise in its pig iron production to 25.5 million mt, all year on year. In the given period, Russia saw a 11.5 percent decrease year on year in its steel pipe production to 4.7 million mt.
In addition, in January-June Russia produced 168 million mt of coal and 13.7 million mt of metallurgical coke, up 5.6 percent and 0.5 percent respectively compared to the same period last year.
