According to the data issued by the Russian Special Steel and Alloys Consumers and Suppliers Association (Spetsstal), in November 2010 Russia's stainless steel product imports saw an insignificant increase of 0.1 percent month on month to 18,066 mt.
Specifically, in November 2010, Russia's imports of stainless steel flats increased by 6.9 percent, its imports of stainless steel longs went up by 0.2 percent, and its imports of stainless steel seamless pipes increased by 10.5 percent, all compared to October. Meanwhile, Russia's November imports of stainless steel wire dropped by 23.2 percent, its imports of billets decreased by 98.7 percent, while its imports of stainless steel electric-welded pipes went down by 23.2 percent, all compared to October.
Of total Russian stainless steel product imports in November 2010, 62.7 percent was accounted for by flats, 18.4 percent was accounted for by longs, 9.6 percent consisted of seamless pipes, 6.9 percent was made up of electric-welded pipes, 2.3 percent was accounted for by wire, while billets accounted for 0.03 percent.
In January-November 2010, Russia imported more than 177,600 mt of stainless steel products, up 82.7 percent compared to 2009 and up 6.6 percent compared to 2008.
